Crispy Grilled Chicken Wings
These crispy grilled chicken wings with a savory BBQ sauce are crispy, flavorful, and just plain good! The key to making them extra crisp after being coated in sauce is using rice flour, not all-purpose flour.
Either prepare your favorite barbecue rub and sauce, or buy pre-made versions at the store, to make things quick and easy.
These chicken wings can be grilled or baked in the oven, depending on your preference. Either way, you’ll love how crisp and tender they turn out.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds chicken wings
- your favorite rub
- 1/2 cup water
- rice flour, for sprinkling
- spray oil, for cooking
- 1/4 cup savory BBQ sauce
Instructions
Step 1.
Place chicken wings in a large stainless steel bowl and sprinkle heavily with the rub. Toss evenly to coat.
Step 2.
Transfer the wings to a sealable plastic bag and add the water. Remove the air and marinate in the refrigerator overnight, turning occasionally.
Step 3.
When ready to cook, drain the wings in a colander and transfer to a large stainless steel bowl. Sprinkle heavily with rice flour and toss to coat. Shake off any excess flour.
Step 4.
Preheat a grill or oven to 450 degrees F (232 degrees C).
Step 5.
Spray wings with oil to coat, then turn over and spray the other side.
Step 6.
Grill or bake until golden brown, about 25 minutes.
Step 7.
Place the BBQ sauce in a heatproof container and microwave until hot and thinned out. Place the cooked wings in the stainless steel bowl and pour the sauce over the wings. Toss to coat.
Step 8.
Serve immediately.
