Everything You Need To Know About Blood Clots

Although it is important to expedite the treatment of stroke patients, it is not always easy to recognize its symptoms. Some simple tests may help detect infection quickly. Every minute affects the patient’s life.

Every year millions of people suffer a stroke, and the trend of injuries is constantly increasing, statistics reveal. Since 2010, the number of stroke injuries in Germany has increased, for example, by 10 percent, as revealed by the German Stroke Association.

In 83% of cases, patients experienced a cerebral infarction. Dr. Thomas Kloss, a neurologist and regional stroke assistance representative, in an interview with the German newspaper Bild.

The blockage and narrowing of the blood vessels comes from vascular calcifications or blood clots, and the result: The brain cannot supply blood properly. 17% of strokes are caused by cerebral hemorrhage, where a bursting of a blood vessel in the brain or its outer layer causes brain cells to be destroyed, making it impossible to supply parts of the brain with adequate blood supply. The result is neurological deficits such as speech and movement disorders, says Dr. Kloss.

The chances of surviving a stroke without permanent disabilities are increased. According to the German Stroke Association, 270,000 people have a stroke in Germany every year and have speech or movement problems as a result of it.

In order to find out whether a stroke has occurred or not, a so-called FAST test can be used, and this word consists of the first letters of four words in English:

Face

Arms have two arms

Pronouncement of speech

time

These four words are just the parts of the F A S T test, and the average unrelated person can identify the initial symptoms of a stroke with this quick test:

Face: Ask the person to smile. If he can only smile from one side, this indicates paraplegia.

Arms: Ask the person to extend their arms forward and raise their palms. In paralysis, he cannot raise or lower his arms.

Pronunciation: Asking person to renew a redo back you. If he is clause to do that, OR his voice is weak, OR if he neglects to pronounce some words or syllables, then the matter indicates a defect in the pronunciation.

Time: If a person is unable to perform one of the three examinations mentioned above, an ambulance should be called immediately and describe the symptoms and when they appeared.
