Poor Man's Husband Casserole
This Poor Man's Husband Casserole recipe makes a hearty and flavorful meal that is delicious and can serve many and is very good leftover.
Ingredients:
- 8 ounces egg noodles, cooked according to package directions
- 1 ½ pounds ground beef
- 2 cans (30 ounces) tomato sauce
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 2 tsp garlic, minced
- 1 tsp Italian seasoning
- 1 tsp sugar
- ¼ tsp salt
- ¼ tsp pepper
- 1 ½ cups cheddar cheese, shredded
Instructions:
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Lightly spray a 9×13 baking dish with cooking spray.
- Cook the pasta according to package directions, then drain and rinse.
- In a skillet over medium-high heat, crumble and cook the ground beef until thoroughly cooked, then drain the grease.
- Add the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper to the beef, stirring to blend well.
- Stir in the sugar, then pour in the tomato sauce and stir again.
- Simmer the mixture for 5 minutes.
- In a small bowl, combine the sour cream and softened cream cheese.
- Place half of the pasta in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
- Top the pasta with half of the sour cream and cream cheese mixture.
- Spoon half of the meat mixture over the sour cream layer.
- Repeat the layers with the remaining pasta, sour cream, and meat mixture.
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese over the top of the casserole.
