Ingredients:
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced green pepper
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup provolone cheese, sliced
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 1/4 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon mustard
Instructions:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, bread crumbs, egg, milk, diced onion, diced green pepper, sliced mushrooms, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper until everything is well combined.
- Press half of the meat mixture into the bottom of a loaf pan to form a flat layer.
- Lay the provolone cheese slices evenly over the meat, leaving a small border around the edges.
- Cover the cheese with the remaining meat mixture, pressing the edges to seal and encase the cheese.
- In a small bowl, whisk together the beef broth, ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard to prepare the sauce.
- Pour the sauce evenly over the meatloaf, making sure it covers the entire surface.
- Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for about 1 hour, until the meatloaf is cooked through and the top is golden brown.
- Once done, remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- Slice into thick portions and serve warm. Enjoy your Philly Cheesesteak Meatloaf!
