Funnel Cake Bites Recipe

Funnel Cake Bites Recipe are a mini version of your favorite fair food. Small bites of fried dough covered in powdered sugar is a warm and delicious dessert.

Ingredients:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt  
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder  
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar  
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk  
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)  

Instructions:

  1. In a medium-sized bowl, mix together the flour, salt, baking powder, and sugar. In a separate bowl, whisk the egg, then combine it with the milk and vanilla extract. Slowly add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients, stirring until the batter is smooth.
  2. Fill a skillet or deep pot with about 1 inch of oil. Heat over medium heat until the oil reaches 350°F (175°C).
  3. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil using a spoon or cookie scoop. Fry each batch for 2-3 minutes, flipping midway, until the bites are golden brown.
  4. Use a slotted spoon to remove the bites from the oil, placing them on paper towels to drain excess oil. While they’re still warm, generously dust with powdered sugar.
  5. Serve immediately, either plain or with your favorite dipping sauces. These bites are best enjoyed fresh!  

Notes:

  1. Add a hint of cinnamon to the batter or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar for a flavorful variation.  
  2. Fry in small batches to maintain the oil temperature and ensure the bites stay crispy.  
  3. Although best when fresh, leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days. To re-crisp, heat in the oven at 350°F for about 5 minutes.
