Crockpot Cheese Tortellini and Sausage

Enjoy a creamy and delicious pasta dish with cheese tortellini and sausage, slow-cooked to perfection in a crockpot. This easy recipe is perfect for a comforting family dinner!

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (500g) cheese tortellini (fresh or frozen)
  • 10 oz (300g) Italian sausage (or substitute with chicken or beef sausage), sliced
  • 3 cups chicken broth
  • 1 can (14 oz/400g) diced tomatoes
  • 1 ½ cups marinara sauce
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup fresh spinach
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste


Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Crockpot: Add the sliced sausage to the crockpot. For extra flavor, sauté it in a pan before adding.
  2. Add Liquids: Pour in the chicken broth, diced tomatoes, and marinara sauce. Stir well.
  3. Slow Cook: Cover and cook on low for 4-5 hours or high for 2-3 hours until the flavors meld together.
  4. Add Tortellini & Cream: Stir in the cheese tortellini and heavy cream, then cook for another 20-30 minutes until the pasta is tender.
  5. Add Spinach & Cheese: Mix in the fresh spinach and Parmesan cheese. Stir until the spinach wilts. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
  6. Serve Warm: Garnish with extra Parmesan cheese and serve with crusty bread if desired.


Tips:

Use spicy sausage for a bolder flavor.

Add mushrooms or bell peppers for extra texture.

For an extra cheesy dish, sprinkle mozzarella cheese on top before serving.
